Light Up the House

Make this House a Home

You are cordially invited to help us Light Up the House at FedExFamilyHouse!

Light Up the House is the most magical moment during the FedExFamilyHouse Gala. During this annual tradition, attendees have the opportunity to donate any amount to keep the “lights” on at FedExFamilyHouse, presented in the style of a live auction.

As guests make their donation, they are presented with a red, light-up necklace in the shape of a heart, reminiscent of the heart that sits atop Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Soon, the ballroom becomes a glittering display, representative of how each donor personally made FedExFamilyHouse light up!

This year, whether you are attending the sold-out event or celebrating with us from home, we invite you to make a direct, significant impact on the more than 32,000 Le Bonheur patients and family members who call FedExFamilyHouse home each year by donating to Light Up the House.

The Morrissey Family

In the last 12 years, more than 295,000 family members have relied on FedExFamilyHouse, a home away from home for families whose children receive expert care at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Because of you, patients like 17-year-old Ella Morrissey, Le Bonheur’s 50th heart transplant recipient, and her family have been able to find peace and hope within our walls.

At 10 years old, Ella was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy after fainting at school. To prevent cardiac arrest, Ella managed her condition with medication and an implantable cardioverter defibrillator until her team of cardiologists at Le Bonheur determined she would need a heart transplant.

With this news, the Morrisseys prepared to relocate to Memphis from their home in Kansas but were unsure of where to stay. Thankfully, FedExFamilyHouse was there, offering safe, comforting accommodations, free of charge and just steps from the hospital.

During their stay at FedExFamilyHouse, the Morrisseys were able to focus on Ella’s treatment and recovery. Ella received her new heart on Dec. 5, 2021, and is now able to dance, run, and live abundantly since her diagnosis 7 years ago!

Donating to FedExFamilyHouse ensures that families like Ella’s will always have a free place to stay when they need it most. Even more, donating gives thousands of children the opportunity to receive the expert, life-changing care that only Le Bonheur experts can provide.

Help us keep the lights on for families like the Morrissey’s! Thank you for making FedExFamilyHouse a home.
